Build Dynamic Power, Reduce Knee Injuries, and Prepare for Winter with Dryland Training.

Preparing the human body for the physical demands of winter sports requires more than generic fitness routines. The Alpine Training Project in West Seattle delivers an evidence-based, 6-week pre-season ski conditioning series engineered to build strength, endurance, enhance dynamic stability, and reduce the risk of common alpine injuries.

Led by physical therapist Amanda Ford, PT, DPT, this hybrid training program combines weekly, high-energy, in-person, group circuit style HIIT workouts at LWPT- West Seattle Alki with video-led workouts that you complete at home or in your gym on your own time. This program builds week over week preparing you to tackle your goals for this winter season. The workouts are scalable to your current fitness level and aspirations for your time in the mountains.

Your registration for the hybrid program includes 6 months of access to ATPs online training content that carries you through the season with in-season training and tune up workouts. Whether charging deep resort powder, carving steep groomed terrain, or setting skin tracks in the backcountry, this program provides the physiological base needed to ski harder, recover faster, and stay out longer.

Instructor Profile:

Amanda Ford, PT, DPT, FDNS, CMFA

I’ve been on skis for as long as I can remember. My dad put me on the slopes practically as soon as I learned to walk, and I’ve been hooked on everything the mountains have to offer ever since. My favorite days are spent chasing steep and deep powder, weaving through mogul fields, and occasionally heading out for a backcountry tour. But at heart, I’m happiest on a resort powder day, pushing myself on challenging terrain and soaking up a bluebird day.

Off the slopes, I’m a physical therapist specializing in orthopedic conditions, and I love working with athletes of all levels, from weekend warriors to competitive professionals. I take a fitness-forward approach to therapy, believing it’s not just about solving pain or healing injuries, but also about enhancing performance, building resilience, and preventing future setbacks.

On the mountain and in the clinic, my goal is the same: to empower people to exceed their goals, build confidence, and reach their full potential, whether that’s skiing steeper lines, tackling moguls with more control, or simply feeling stronger and more capable on the mountain.

Let’s bulletproof your legs, prevent injuries, and get you black-diamond ready so you can ski stronger, go longer, and enjoy every run with confidence.
