Build Dynamic Power, Reduce Knee Injuries, and Prepare for Winter with Dryland Training.
Preparing the human body for the physical demands of winter sports requires more than generic fitness routines. The Alpine Training Project in Kirkland delivers an evidence-based, 6-week pre-season ski conditioning series engineered to build strength, endurance, enhance dynamic stability, and reduce the risk of common alpine injuries.
Led by physical therapist Zach Church, PT, this hybrid training program combines weekly, high-energy, in-person, group circuit style HIIT workouts at Lake Washington Physcial Therapy with video-led workouts that you complete at home or in your gym on your own time. This program builds week over week preparing you to tackle your goals for this winter season. The workouts are scalable to your current fitness level and aspirations for your time in the mountains.
Your registration for the hybrid program includes 6 months of access to ATPs online training content that carries you through the season with in-season training and tune up workouts. Whether charging deep resort powder, carving steep groomed terrain, or setting skin tracks in the backcountry, this program provides the physiological base needed to ski harder, recover faster, and stay out longer.

Instructor Profile:
Zach Church, PT
As an orthopedic physical therapist and performance coach, Zach brings a deep, evidence-based foundation in biomechanics, tissue capacity, and progressive overload to every athlete’s journey. Guided by a movement philosophy centered on restoring optimal biomechanics and building resilient, high-capacity bodies, he takes a structured, results-driven approach to human movement. By integrating thorough clinical diagnostics with targeted performance training, they train individuals to master movement efficiency, rebuild capacity, and stay ahead of injury.
Outside the clinic, he embodies this performance mindset as a freeride skier and mountaineer, regularly navigating high-exposure terrain, technical ascents, and steep mountain descents. This firsthand experience in demanding alpine environments directly shapes his clinical practice, seamlessly bridging the gap between orthopedic physical therapy rehabilitation and high-level sports performance. Whether guiding an athlete through post-injury return-to-sport testing or optimizing movement mechanics for extreme mountain conditions, he empowers athletes to push past physical limitations, return to high-impact activities stronger, and execute at their peak on and off the mountain.
